  Bio note

  Dr. Wonho Kim is Distinguished Professor at Liaocheng University in China, and a Professor Emeritus at the Graduate School of International and Area Studies (GSIAS), Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) in Korea. He writes as a columnist for the Korea Economic Daily , and serves as member of the International Advisory Board for Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL), Mexico. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy from the University of Texas at Austin.

  Dr. Kim previously served as Dean of GSIAS, Chair of the HUFS Committee on the Future, and Director of the Americas Division, Research Director, and Dean of the Center for Regional Economic Studies at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP). He was also a Fulbright Professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and a visiting professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and served as International News Editor at Yonhap News Agency.

  His public service includes roles as Chairman of the Vision Group for the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC), Board Member of the Korea Economic Institute of America (KEI), President of the Latin American Studies Association of Korea (LASAK), President of the Council of Latin American Studies in Asia and Oceania (CELAO), Managing Director of the Korean Council on Latin America and the Caribbean (KCLAC), as well as Consultant to the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF).

  Dr. Kim has conducted extensive research and published widely on economic strategy and reform from a comparative perspective, as well as on international political economy in the Americas. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Order of Rio Branco by President Fernando Henrique Cardoso of Brazil in 2000, and the Royal Order of Civil Merit by King Felipe VI of Spain in 2018.
